Rabat - Morocco''s oil bill in the year to February stood at some 2,846 million dirhams that is a 1.4% rise compared to the same period last year, Morocco''s the Exchange Rate Monitoring Office said
During the same period, Morocco imported 639,500 tonnes of crude oil against 1 million ton a year earlier, the Rabat based office said.
Amid a rising trend in international markets, the average price of an imported tonne of crude oil soared 61.9% to reached 4,451 dirhams in February 2010 compared to 2,749 dirhams in the same period last year.
According to the same source, Irak tops the list of Morocco''s suppliers of crude oil with some 1,258 million dirgams followed by Saudi Arabia ( 974.1 million dirhams) and Russia ( 614.5 million diorhams).
Following the increase in purchases of crude oil, imports of all energy products rose by 17.8% to stand at some 9.1 billion dirhams.
