Rabat - Morocco is committed to forging exemplary, dynamic and diversified relations with Peru, Latifa Akharbach, Moroccan State Secretary for Foreign Affairs said Tuesday in Rabat

The Kingdom is willing to consolidate and diversify bilateral relations which cover currently different fields, including agriculture, justice, human rights and academic cooperation, Akharbach said during a meeting with a Peruvian parliamentary delegation.

She called for establishing an economic partnership between the two countries and intensifying the academic exchanges.

The Moroccan official recalled that the visit of HM King Mohammed VI to Peru in December 2004 imparted new impetus to bilateral cooperation, notably in the commercial and political fields and enabled the Kingdom to consolidate its diplomatic presence in Peru and South America in general.

In this regard, Akharbach reiterated Morocco's strong commitment to actively contributing to the success of the 3rd South American-Arab Countries Summit, to be held in February 2011 in Lima, the capital of Peru.

This great bi-regional event, she said, is an occasion to bolster the political and economic partnership between South American and Arab countries.

Regarding the Moroccan Sahara issue, Akharbach deemed that the detention for over three decades of populations in the Tindouf camps (south-western Algeria) is the most ignoble human rights abuse.

She added that the massive return to the Kingdom of the population held in the Tindouf camps proves that they are still attached to their homeland, Morocco, despite the long period of their detention.

Concerning the Sahara conflict, she said the autonomy initiative proposed by Morocco to solve this conflict is a "bold, democratic solution" that enjoys both the international community's credibility and national public opinion's support.
