Rabat - Cooperation between Morocco and Spain in the area of the fight against illegal immigration has resulted in 'efficient results', said, on Monday in Rabat, the secretary-general of Morocco's foreign ministry Youssef Amrani told the press at the end of a meeting with Spanish secretary of state for immigration, Anna Terron i Cusi, that the number of illegal immigrants has, as a result, substantially dropped over the past two years.
He noted that the two countries are committed to pursuing consultations and coordination in this field and willing to work together to combat this phenomenon.
Terron said the meeting is part of the good bilateral relations, adding that it was agreed to hold a meeting in Morocco late this year to examine means to organise legal immigration and handle the situation of immigrants on the Spanish territory.
She also stressed the need to reorganise migratory flows in this time of global economic crisis.
