Rabat - The Health Ministry announced, on Wednesday, that 94% of Tuberculosis (TB) cases were detected in Morocco in 2010 In a statement issued on the occasion of World TB Day, celebrated on March 24, the Ministry highlighted its efforts to provide free care, as all patients receive free medical treatment for a period ranging between 6 to 9 months with a treatment success rate exceeding 86%.
In 2010, the Ministry established two referral centers specializing in the fight against MR TB in Casablanca and Rabat and support the program against tuberculosis at the regional level through the programming of the creation of other centers, the statement added.
In order to increase the momentum of the fight against tuberculosis, the Ministry recalled the signing of 24 agreements with local associations working in this field.
Regarding the Ministry's strategy to fight this disease by 2015, the statement stressed that it is characterized by a multitude of partnerships in the public and private sectors, including the signing of two agreements with the association of physicians specializing in respiratory diseases and the association of pediatricians of Casablanca's private sector.
